The Sheriff’s Child Support Unit detectives are responsible for serving civil warrants issued by a Superior Court Judge for parents who fail to pay child support judgments. Those individuals who refuse to surrender themselves and resolve the matter, are located and taken into custody, and often lodged in the Burlington County Jail, until a court appearance can be arranged before a Superior Court Judge.
Methods
Sheriff’s Detectives locate and apprehend fugitives wanted on criminal and child support warrants. New Jersey State Law allows Sheriff’s Detectives to place metal ‘boots’ on vehicles of delinquent parents who fail to pay child support payments ordered by the courts.
