We will be holding a free rabies clinic April 22nd. This clinic is open to any resident of New Jersey. The clinic will be broken down into time slots, which you must register for by clicking on the link below. There is a max of 2 animals per appointment. Please do not arrive any earlier than your assigned time slot as you will not be granted access to the building. If your animal has had a prior rabies vaccine this is still valid or only recently expired please bring poof (twp. license, tag, vet records) for the vaccine to be valid for three years. Chef Fran was born and raised in the New Jersey area and was nurtured in the art of cooking from her mother who brought delicious, gourmet meals to the table night after night. Her mission is to bring families back to their dinner tables to enjoy home-cooked meals while re-connecting with each other after a long day. Join Chef Fran in making gorgonzola topped filet mignon & roasted mashed cauliflower – she is a firm believer that healthy food can be delicious when seasoned and created with love. Recipes will be provided as well as the Zoom link prior to class.

Every other Wednesday, Naturalist Kate will post a new video on our Nature Programs Page that highlights a local species to better understand their behaviors, natural history and/or significance in the environment. This month will focus on Eastern bluebirds and minks.

Did you ever want to try Zumba? Here’s your chance! Zumba is a high energy fitness class that promotes overall wellbeing. It incorporates a variety of dance moves, promotes a healthy heart and a healthy dose of aerobic activity, is great way to build and tone muscles, improve cardio, promotes flexibility and best of all, decrease stress. Who’s joining in on the fun? Starting April 8th, Zumba will be offered every Thursday in April. Classes will be held for one hour outside in the beautiful Rose Garden on the grounds of the Smithville Mansion. Registration is required, space is limited. No drop-ins allowed. Rain will cancel this event. Masks and social distancing is recommended.

For National Poetry Month and Earth Day, enjoy the sights and sounds of beautiful Smithville Park while reflecting on some of the greatest nature poems ever written! If you feel inspired, you are encouraged to create your own (sharing is optional). We will meet as the Worker's House Gallery at 3pm, and the walk will take about 1 hour. Maximum attendance limits are enforced and masks are required.
