  1. POSTPONED The Pine Barrens Of New Jersey

January 18, 2020, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Burlington County Lyceum of History and Natural Sciences

Due to the forecast, this program has been postponed. The rescheduled date will be announced. The Pine Barrens of NJ contain more ghost towns than the entire American West.  Join author Barbara Solem-Stull as she tells us about towns that rose up around iron furnaces, glass factories, paper mills, cranberry farms, and brick making establishments of the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries.  Her new book "Ghost Towns and Other Quirky Places in the Pine Barrens"   is a unique field guide and essential resource for anyone interested in the Pineland's long ago communities.   A Q & A session will follow.  Refreshments will also be served.  The presentation is sponsored by the Burlington County Lyceum of History and Natural Sciences. Registration is requested.

  1. VISIONS ON THE RANCOCAS: ART SMITH

    November 7, 2019 - January 29, 2020 @ Warden's House Gallery

When Art Smith moved to Mount Holly from Phoenix two years ago, he was immediately attracted to the waters of the creek and to those of the mill race. His first paintings here were of the Rancocas and he has continued to explore this subject with sketches and acrylic paintings. At the same time, Art became interested in the work of Mount Holly painter, Hugh Campbell. Art was inspired by his artistic interpretations of New Jersey landscapes, buildings, but most specifically, the Rancocas. Several of his paintings of the creek have been a visual reference for Art’s paintings. These paintings of the Rancocas Creek are his visual response to the beauty of these waters.
