As the owner of Mimosa Goods LLC, a small business in Bordentown City where she was raised, Sarah McEwan has put her experience in management and client relations to work - helping to encourage, uplift, and empower other local small business owners. She provides studio space for community events and wellness classes, and works with more than 30 other small business owners (predominantly women in the community) to showcase their craft and further cultivate their talents. Sarah’s mission has been to provide eco-friendly, handcrafted, and fair trade goods and to educate her community on the environmental and human rights impacts of low cost, disposable fast fashion. Most of the fair trade items she carries are made in women led cooperatives - and a principle of those cooperatives is that when women are economically empowered, the entire community benefits. Her hope is that we use the buying power we have as individuals to choose to support entrepreneurs working to make the world a better place. Sarah especially enjoys working with new makers, helping them to hone their offerings, develop their brands and connect them with opportunities to help them grow and succeed. She gives of her time and space to act as a networking hub, connecting the dots between people, places, organizations, and businesses, further strengthening her community.
Sarah believes a thriving main street is important to a healthy community, and she is an active member of the Downtown Bordentown Association, the Bordentown City Creative Team and the town’s Economic Development Advisory Committee. Her two boys inspired her to complete her training in classical vinyasa yoga and she is pursuing a certification to teach yoga to children in her Bordentown studio.
Sarah graduated from The College of New Jersey in 1996 with a BA in English & Psychology.
