Hazardous Waste Small Business Program
The Hazardous Waste Facility will accept materials from qualifying businesses within Burlington County which produce small or infrequent amounts of hazardous waste. A business wishing to utilize the facility for hazardous waste disposal must first be registered at the Hazardous Waste Facility as a Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG).
Upon request, facility staff will transmit a Business Registration Form (PDF) which must be completed and returned. The form details information about the organization that generates the waste materials, and certifies that the business is a VSQG. Facility staff will review and approve or disapprove the Registration based on the information contained on the form. If disapproved, facility staff will advise the business of alternate disposal options for their waste. If approved, the Registration will be kept on file and considered valid for a period of two years or until staff are notified of any change in the operation or regulatory status of the business as outlined in 40 CFR 261.5 (incorporated by reference at N.J.A.C. 7:26G-5). Please send all completed Business Registration Forms to hazwaste@co.burlington.nj.us. All VSQG's must either be registered as a self-generating hauler or have a A-901 license. To register your vehicle as a self-generating hauler or to apply for a A-901 license please visit https://www.wastedecals.nj.gov/sg2.html
A very small business generates less than 100 kilograms of hazardous waste and 1 kilogram of acute hazardous waste (typically very poisonous) per month. Due to changes in the hazardous waste regulations, Very Small Quantity Generators (VSQG's) can also accumulate up to 1000 kilograms and still keep their VSQG status.
The facility can accept all types of wastes except for explosives, cylinders, radioactive materials and medical waste.
