Emergency Declaration

 President Trump declared a nationwide emergency pursuant to Sec. 501 (b) of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (the “Stafford Act). This increases federal support to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in its role as the lead federal agency for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic response. As a result of the President’s action, FEMA has been directed to assist state and local governments and other eligible entities with the health and safety actions they take on behalf of the American public. FEMA Public Assistance 

Under the Federal declaration, FEMA reimbursement will be provided at a 75 percent Federal cost share, whereby eligible Applicants can be reimbursed 75% of their eligible costs. This emergency declaration (EM) is similar to the major disaster declarations (DR) that many of you may be familiar with. However, under this EM declaration, only Category B - Emergency Protective Measures are eligible for reimbursement at this time.

LSU NCBRT/ACE created a 6-minute video, “CDC Sequence for Donning and Doffing PPE,” that walks viewers step-by-step through the guidelines prescribed by the CDC for donning and doffing a gown, mask/respirator, face shield, and gloves.
