Whether it’s history or hiking, there is something for everyone to enjoy in the Burlington County Parks System! With 1,000 acres of developed parkland and 3,500 acres of land slated for park development, the residents of Burlington County can enjoy the trails, recreational water access, picnic facilities, and play areas that are close to home.

Preserving our county’s heritage and making history come alive through our parks system is a key mission of the Board of Chosen Freeholders. Preservation and restoration work at Historic Smithville Park will provide visitors with a window into the Industrial Revolution, and the Historic Prison Museum, a National Historic Landmark, tells an intriguing story of early American architecture and prison life.

Combine all this with a variety of arts and cultural programming provided by the Division of Cultural Affairs and Tourism, and you’ll find endless opportunities to enjoy yourself!

See you in the parks!

John Smith, Superintendent of Parks
