Meals on Wheels of Burlington County provides a nutritious well-balanced meal for homebound county residents 60 years of age or older.
The goal of this program is to enhance the quality of life through good nutrition. It provides encouragement and assistance to those people who have demonstrated a need for this type of service.
Good nutrition promotes vitality, health and independence. Good nutrition keeps people healthy and speeds recovery after an illness, injury, or hospital stay.
Meals on Wheels is part of an extensive network of services offered by the Burlington County Office on Aging for homebound persons 60 years of age or older.
Delicious home-style meals are prepared daily in the Meals on Wheels central kitchen. All menus are created and approved by a dietician. Each meal provides at least 1/3 of the daily recommended dietary allowance for individuals 60 years or older. Variations in meals are prepared for the liberal diabetic.
A meal is delivered to homebound clients who are alone and unable to provide for their daily needs.
Prospective clients are interviewed in order to determine their need of the service.
Client contributions help to defray part of the cost of operating this valuable program. No one is refused because of an inability to contribute. Food stamps are accepted.
