Sheriff Jean E. Stanfield joined the Sheriff's Department in the capacity of undersheriff in 1996 under former Sheriff Gary L. Daniels. Previously, she served as an assistant prosecutor in the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

Jean E. Stanfield was elected county sheriff in November 2001 and re-elected in November 2004, 2007, and 2010. She began her fourth term as Sheriff in January 2011. Sheriff Stanfield holds a law degree, receiving her juris doctor from Rutgers University in 1992.

The Sheriff is co-chairperson of the Anti-Terrorism Task Force, along with Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi. She also chairs the Burlington County Gang Prevention Task Force and the county Traffic Safety Committee. During her time as sheriff she has secured over 4 million in grant funds that allow our department to offer an array of free programs and services.
