Expressions have crept into our language. Sayings like “by hook or by crook”; “I’ll bet you from dollars to donuts”; and, “up to scratch”. What do these sayings really mean and how did they become part of our everyday chatter? Find out why we say “straight from the horse’s mouth” when we mean something is absolutely true, or, “elephant in the room” when there’s an uncomfortable situation to be dealt with. Join us in exploring the roots and uses of these and other phrases. Masks are required. This program will also take place virtually on Zoom on September 15 at 6 PM. Registration is required.
