A lifelong resident of Florence, Bruce Garganio has the distinction of serving as Freeholder Director for 2017.

Bruce comes to the County Seat with a solid record in local government, having served as a Florence Township Councilman for 12 years, two of those years as Council President. Add to that past and present involvement in a number of local organizations, including the Florence Township Civic Association, Planning Board, Recreation Committee, Environmental Commission, and the local Board of Education, where he served for six years (including a stint as board president).

As Freeholder Director, he crafted a 2014 budget that reduces the county tax levy for the fifth year in a row while maintaining and enhancing services for all of our residents. As a result, Burlington County has the lowest per capita spending among all 21 counties in New Jersey.

Garganio brings a blue collar perspective to the freeholder board, having been a foreman carpenter for 28 years; he is employed as a Council Representative for the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters.

As Director, Bruce’s departmental duties include Administration and Solid Waste and is he is responsible for overseeing the Clerk of the Board. Garganio serves on the Board of School Estimates for the County College, Special Services, and BCIT. Additionally, Garganio is a member of the Planning Board and Personnel Committee.

He and his wife, Linda, have two daughters, Kristin and Kelly. With both daughters active in sports over the years, Garganio has coached softball, basketball and soccer, and served as Vice President of the Florence Township Girls Softball League.
