Ms. Sabir is currently the Manager of WDB Administration & Outreach at Rowan College at Burlington County’s Workforce Development Institute. She received her B.A. in English and M.A. in Liberal Studies from Rutgers University-Camden. Ms. Sabir’s past roles include Legislative Aide to Senator Dana L. Redd representing the Fifth Legislative District. Following her work with Senator Redd, Zahirah continued with the Fifth District team, consisting of Senator Donald Norcross, Assemblyman Angel Fuentes and Assemblyman Gilbert “Whip” Wilson. After a short time as a Caseworker for the Fifth District, Ms. Sabir was selected to become Legislative Aide to Assemblyman Wilson. In the five years working for Assemblyman Wilson, Ms. Sabir was tasked with serving as a direct liaison for the Assemblyman to the Governor’s Office, Executive Branch Departments and Agencies, NJ Senate, Federal Representatives, County and Municipal officials as well as managing constituent cases and various municipal projects, organizing and advancing the Assemblyman’s short-term and long-term priorities.
Following her time with the Assembly, Ms. Sabir became the Community Outreach Coordinator for Burlington County where she was responsible for ensuring the residents of Burlington County are aware of all resources available to them as well as providing access to those resources, identifying and establishing workgroups and opportunities for regular feedback in underserved areas related to language, religious/cultural, and geographic barriers, address issues of diversity and create awareness throughout the county through workshops, roundtable discussion, trainings etc.
In her current role, Ms. Sabir performs administrative and planning duties required under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act; provides guidance and coordinates activities of the Workforce Development Board; and, cultivates strong working relationships with public and private, community and regional partners and leaders in education, workforce, and economic development in order to meet the needs of Burlington County and regional employers of a skilled workforce.
In addition to her professional responsibilities, Ms. Sabir is on CONTACT of Burlington County’s Board of Directors as well as a member of the Burlington County Women’s Council.
