In August 1814, the British burned Washington, D.C., but the Patent Office was saved by Superintendent William Thornton. Hear the story of how he was able to save the office, and many of the inventions, patents, and trademarks issued in the month of August through the centuries. Registration is required. This program will also take place virtually on Zoom on August 2 at 6 PM (see below).
