Stop by the Burlington County Lyceum this month for exhibits and events for the whole family, including:
- July 11th (11 am to 1 pm) Here Comes Ben Franklin! Join Jeff Macechak of the Burlington County Historical Society as he portrays Benjamin Franklin. Learn about Ben Franklin’s life as a runaway, printer, experimenter in science, and statesman. Local artifacts connected to Benjamin Franklin will also be on display.
Of course, no Ben Franklin appearance would be complete without his famous kite-flying experiment, which will take place if the weather cooperates. The event is intended for ages 12 and up, and is free.
- July 24th (11 am to 1 pm) Decoding the Past. A free event for senior citizens. Handle various museum artifacts and see if you can figure out what they are and how they were once used. Presented by Meg Wastie of the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts.
- July 25th (11 am to 2 pm) Creating Colonial Toys. A free event for children age 5 and up to play some games that Colonial children loved, including the Game of Graces, hoop rolling, and the cup and ball game. Participants will also get to make a set of the Game of Graces to take home. Presented by Barb Johns.
The Burlington County Lyceum of History and Natural Sciences is located at 307 High Street in Mount Holly.
