April is Keep America Beautiful Month
Keep America Beautiful Month is celebrated each year in April. It celebrates the things we all can do to make our country a more beautiful and better place. The Keep America Beautiful Foundation is a US based non-profit organization that has three basic missions: reducing waste, preventing litter and beautifying communities. Everyone makes a difference in keeping America beautiful. Reduce waste by repurposing and reusing old items. Recycling is another important way we can all reduce waste in our communities.
Many people celebrate Keep America Beautiful Month by teaching children about preventing litter. April is a good time to adopt a highway, street or park and participate in helping to clean up your community. Beautifying your community can be a fun and creative project. Clean up the winter debris in your yard. Plant a tree, some flowers or even a garden. Put a fresh coat of paint on your fence or deck.
Want to get in on Keeping America Beautiful? Help Burlington County’s Clean Communities at their Park Cleanup Event! Help collect and inventory litter along the Rancocas Creek at this 140 acre park. This 6th annual cleanup is part of the NJ Clean Communities Council's Clean Water Challenge. Last year, 42 volunteers helped to collect 960 pounds of litter at Pennington Park, let’s try and beat that this year!
