Consumer Affairs

Responsibilities
The Division of Consumer Protection investigates and mediates consumer complaints filed with the office and presents consumer education programs to schools, senior clubs, and private and public associations. It also distributes consumer protection pamphlets to the general public and provides a 3-year history of consumer complaints filed against a particular business.

The Division of Consumer Protection also administers the Burlington County Senior Legal Program, which provides legal services, such as will and document preparation, bankruptcy, uncontested divorce, and other services, to low and moderate income seniors over 60 years of age, and provides a Free Senior Legal Advice Day 2 times a month at our offices at:

Weights & Measures Office
The Weights and Measures Office is responsible for inspecting all gas pumps, home heating meters, private postal scales, supermarket scanners, and other measuring devices used in the marketplace.

Both offices participate in consumer education programs and public awareness campaigns, and works with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to protect the marketplace.
