Membership

As prescribed by N.J.A.C. 10:2-1.3; membership includes public and private provider representation, county government, and consumer / consumer advocates.

About the Council

The Human Services Advisory Council (HSAC) was established in 1983 per N.J.A.C. 10:2; County Resolution 109.

The council:

  • Reviews county-level human services activities and serves as the primary vehicle for making local recommendations to assist the County Commissioners and state in their decision making
  • Identifies the high priority human service needs for the community
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements the state’s initiatives at the county level
  • Provides input to the County Commissioners on funding priorities and allocations

    • Membership: The Chairperson of the council and the committee Chairpersons
    • Purpose: Oversight and review of HSAC activities, policies, and procedures; special projects as deemed appropriate
    • Established: 1983
  • Child Care Planning
    • Meeting dates: As needed
    • Membership: Public and private provider representation, county government, and schools
    • Purpose: To develop the "Work First New Jersey Child Care Plan" for Burlington County; review, comment, and advise the HSAC on issues relating to child care
    • Established: 2000
  • Disabilities Issues
    • Meeting dates:

  • Membership: Includes public and private provider representation, county government, and consumer / consumer advocates
  • Purpose: To advise the HSAC on assessments and evaluations of system/service needs as it relates to the special needs population; provide public education, promote empowerment, self-advocacy, and independence.

  • Nominating
    • Meeting dates: As needed
    • Purpose: To review membership criteria and make recommendations for slates of nominees in accordance with the bylaws
    • Established: 1983
  • Planning
    • Meeting dates: As needed
    • Membership: Various HSAC members
    • Purpose: To identify the high priority human service needs for the Community; prepare the Burlington County Human Services Plan
    • Established: 1983
  • Missing and Abused Children Advisory
    • Meeting dates: As needed
    • Purpose: The state provides a small grant each year for education and advocacy regarding neglected and abused children.
