Members

The Burlington County Board of Commissioners consists of 5 members. 1 or 2 are elected each year from the county at-large for a 3-year term.

The Director is elected annually by the Board.

NOTICE OF FINAL ADOPTION
RESOLUTION NO. 2025-00846

WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:20-72, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Burlington is authorized to pass a resolution to establish Commissioner salaries; and

WHEREAS, on March 25, 2009, the Burlington County Board of County Commissioners, formerly known as the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders, passed Resolution 136 to “Modify Freeholders Salaries” specifically to decrease their salaries fifty (50%) percent to Ten Thousand Five Hundred Fifty Three ($10,553.00) Dollars for Commissioners and Eleven Thousand Fifty Three ($11,053.00) for the Director due to the poor economic conditions at the time; and

WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is now appropriate to return the Commissioner annual salary to the former amount of Twenty-One Thousand ($21,000.00) Dollars; provided further that the Director of the Board shall receive additional compensation of One Thousand ($1,000.00) Dollars and subject to an annual cost of living increase; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:4-6, the County will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 7:00 PM, to discuss increasing the annual salary of all members of the Board of County Commissioners to Twenty One Thousand ($21,000.00) Dollars; provided further that the Director of the Board shall receive additional annual compensation of One Thousand ($1,000.00) Dollars. All shall also be subject to an annual cost of living increase; now, therefore, be  

RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Burlington that a Public Hearing is hereby scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the County Administration Building, Board Room, 49 Rancocas Road Mount Holly, NJ 08060; and, be it

FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the Board shall cause notice of the Public Hearing to be printed in an official newspaper of the County of Burlington, said publication to be not less than ten (10) days prior to the date of the hearing.


TAKE NOTICE THAT THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION NO. 2025-00846
WAS PASSED AT FIRST READING ON DECEMBER 30, 2025 AND FINAL ADOPTION AFTER A PUBLIC HEARING HELD ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 28, 2026 AT 7:00 P.M. AT WHICH TIME ALL INTERESTED PERSONS WERE AFFORDED AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE HEARD REGARDING THE RESOLUTION. PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-72, RESOLUTION WILL TAKE EFFECT 20 DAYS AFTER ADOPTION.

ALL INTERESTED PERSONS WILL BE AFFORDED AN OPPORTUNITY TO 

BE HEARD REGARDING THE RESOLUTION.


Notice:

WHEREAS, the Local Government Cap Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:4-45.1 et seq., provides that in the preparation of its annual budget, a county shall limit any increase in said budget up to 2.0% unless authorized by resolution to increase it to 3.5% over the previous year’s final appropriations, subject to certain exceptions; and

WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 40A:4-45.15b provides that a county may, when authorized by resolution, appropriate the difference between the amount of its actual final appropriation and the 3.5% percentage rate as an exception to its final appropriations in either of the next two succeeding years; and

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Burlington finds it advisable and necessary to increase its Calendar Year (“CY”) 2026 budget by up to 3.5% over the previous year’s final appropriations, in the interest of promoting the health, safety and welfare of the citizens; and

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners hereby determines that a 1.5% increase in the budget for said year, amounting to $2,048,175.40 in excess of the increase in final appropriations otherwise permitted by the Local Government Cap Law, is advisable and necessary; and

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners hereby determines that any amount authorized hereinabove that is not appropriated as part of the final budget shall be retained as an exception to final appropriation in either of the next two succeeding years;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Burlington, a majority of the full authorized membership of this governing body affirmatively concurring, that, in the CY 2026 budget year, the final appropriations of the County of Burlington shall, in accordance with this resolution and N.J.S.A. 40A:4-45.14, be increased by 3.5% amounting to $4,779,075.92 and that the CY 2026 budget for the County of Burlington be approved and adopted in accordance with this resolution; and, be it

FURTHER RESOLVED, that any amount authorized hereinabove that is not appropriated as part of the final budget shall be retained as an exception to final appropriation in either of the next two succeeding years; and, be it
